I am the wispy

C loud that drifts freely
I n the azure
R ising and climbing
R olling into strands of hair
U nderstanding that this is the fore-
S hadowing of a cyclone.

Replay

Swiftly, I flutter across the caseless sky
Flying by the pastures and the whistling songbirds

Thump!
I plummeted,
sinking
scuppering
spiraling
into the deepest of the wallows
as I drifted into cavernous earth

Frail
Feeble
Fragile
I slowly rise from the deepest of the wallows
Beneath your feet
Dancing, my heart beats
And sprouts
Thickening webs crawling up my spine

I hear the tune of cuddling songbirds tickling me
children’s clumsy footsteps scrunching by
Knowing this is the epilogue
and a prologue

Mellow, Maximum Yellow1

As I wake to the golden rays
I stop and follow
the trailing yellow
Dying
Down
the restful streets

Tie the fabric
Squeeze
Tease
the amber
the cream
the golden rod
the lemon
out
and dye the world yellow

Shhhh…..Let the world mellow

  1. Fun fact: “maximum yellow” was actually used as a name for a crayola crayon color from 1926 to 1944. ↩︎
